16 Years Serving the Pallet Industry
MAV-REC Palet S.R.L. has been operating in Romania since 2009 in the field of market surveillance and inspection of UIC/EUR-type pallets. The inspection body has been active on the Hungarian market since 2004, based on the mandate granted by Rail Cargo Austria, the trademark owner, and the mandate agreement concluded with Rail Cargo Hungaria for managing all activities related to EUR pallets.
Over the years, MAV-REC Palet S.R.L. has acted consistently to eliminate counterfeiting of UIC/EUR pallets and to ensure that pallet users in Romania purchase standardised pallets. The company places major emphasis on obtaining quality management systems; therefore, as in Hungary, the objective here is also to implement three types of ISO systems. Across Europe, only two other organisations hold a similarly high level of accreditation. This year, the company underwent a reorganisation process: two major Romanian entrepreneurs acquired ownership stakes, and since this summer the activity has been conducted along a completely new direction, in a modernised manner.
The independent inspection body maintains a close relationship with pallet users. In this way, it can identify most efficiently pallets that do not comply with UIC 435-2 and it organises specialised interactive training sessions for logistics employees. According to feedback, after the trainings the activity of goods handlers has become faster and more efficient, which is why several logistics centres request this service as often as twice a year. The courses are delivered by MAV-REC Palet S.R.L. specialists directly at the companies’ premises, on site, using real pallets. Thanks to these trainings, the pallet stock of logistics centres has improved significantly in recent years.
MAV-REC Palet S.R.L. checks licensed pallet production and repair facilities several times each month to ensure that only the highest-quality pallets reach the market, thereby protecting the safety of transported goods.
To eliminate counterfeit pallets, close cooperation is required between MAV-REC Palet S.R.L. and the Romanian authorities. It is hoped that by the end of this year joint actions with the authorities will begin, both at border crossing points and within the country. These will contribute significantly to clearing the market of counterfeit products. The planned actions for the near future, together with the training of authority personnel, will increase the efficiency of identifying counterfeits. At border points, Rail Cargo Austria has submitted an application for customs monitoring of the EUR trademark, so pallets that do not meet the standards are continuously checked and withdrawn from circulation.
MAV-REC Palet S.R.L. participates in the meetings of the International Union of Railways (UIC). Together with Rail Cargo Hungaria, it represents the interests of Romania and Hungary on the international platform, contributing to the development of standards and sharing inspection experience with representatives of UIC members. The company is a recognised and respected member of the working group, and several inspection organisations from other countries have requested professional consultancy from its management.
The inspection body is at the forefront of innovative developments and auxiliary materials, which are prepared based on market requirements. This is how the quality grading system was created, which can be downloaded free of charge from the MAV-REC Palet S.R.L. website. At present, the company is working on the development of “smart pallets”, an innovation requested by the majority of pallet users. To meet this need, MAV-REC Palet S.R.L. has already initiated collaborations with major telecommunications companies and teams of development engineers.
Over 16 years of activity, MAV-REC Palet S.R.L. has always stood for quality, and its name has become synonymous with standardised, high-quality pallets. Its mission is to ensure that only pallets compliant with standards are produced and used on the market.
